Customization & Hosting

In the past, libraries with limited technical resources may have found it difficult to implement open source library software. FOLIO changes this.

A “right-for-you” environment

Beyond a next-gen solution, FOLIO is 100% driven by and open to the community, so you don’t need to deal with “forced packages” and “predetermined workflows.” Because of the innate flexibility, libraries have a system that includes only the traditional resource management (ILS) functionality that you want while adding complementary functionality in electronic resource management. You can even choose to add resource sharing functionality from our peer open source project: Project ReShare. Any application that you choose—from different vendors or developers—working together in harmony.

You are supported

No need to answer the question “who do I call?” when you need support working with various applications. Commercial hosting and/or support is available for your day-to-day and strategic needs. Services include: implementation, hosting, service, and support and training. See a list of vendors who currently offer implementation, hosting and support services for FOLIO: https://www.folio.org/community/support/ Some consortia are also offering FOLIO support for member libraries. FOLIO’s built-in multi-tenant capabilities make it straightforward to harness economies of scale and improve efficiencies for libraries.

Supporting your own solution

As a true open source project, any library or library consortia can choose to host and operate FOLIO locally. The software is free to any library.
