#FOLIOBuilds: Let’s Talk About Building

Run your library and imagine new possibilities - What app would you build for your library? #FOLIOBuilds

FOLIO is a community collaboration to develop a new open source library platform from the ground up. The software includes core library services (such as cataloging, acquisitions, circulation) and will include a platform to support new services. FOLIO will make it possible for libraries to choose applications developed by libraries, different groups or vendors. Open and proprietary apps will all be available to the community in a marketplace (app store) environment.

With the first iteration of the platform coming out in 2018, we ask you to think beyond a typical ILS and imagine what your library could look like with completely new, innovative apps.

So we ask you: In addition to the core functionality that will be offered by FOLIO’s platform, what would be the first app that you want for your library? Share your thoughts by tweeting your answer using the hashtag #FOLIOBuilds. One lucky person will win a Bamboo Folio Smartpad, Notepad and Spark pen for contributing to the discussion!

Are you headed to ALA Midwinter Conference? If so, look for the FOLIO postcard in your conference bag. You can write your answer on the postcard and drop it off at either the Index Data (#819) or EBSCO (#1514) booths.

We look forward to a vibrant community discussion around how apps can open new possibilities for your library.
