FOLIO Project Update – Week of August 12, 2019

Holly Mistlebauer and Harry Kaplanian presented the Market Viable Product and Capacity Plan to the FOLIO Product Council. This presentation covered the functionality that will be available by the Fameflower release (Q4 2019) with a December 4 freeze date.

Institutions will review how the planned MVP compares to their Go Live expectations and report the results to the Capacity Planning team. Names and contact information for any Bug Fest testing volunteers should be sent to Anton Emilianov ASAP.

Kelly Drake gave a demo of current FOLIO Requests functionality for a single-tenant implementation to the Consortia SIG. The SIG briefly discussed some of the ways in which Cross-tenant Unmediated Requesting might align and/or integrate with existing functionality. Possibilities included extending the list of pickup service points to include available service points from other tenants and using the “Delivery” fulfillment method to identify the final destination at the pickup library. The SIG is beginning to look at how these features will be represented in JIRA.

The Metadata Management SIG discussion this week focused on proposed improvements to the search interface for Inventory. These changes will leverage the search and sort component already implemented in other apps (e.g., Orders, Finances) to improve the layout and functionality of searching for Instance, Holdings, and Item records.

The Reporting SIG began analyzing the list of reports identified by the Reporting Data Privacy subgroup as using personal information. The group discussed whether or not each report would need to be delivered via the LDP with the goal of determining if LDP data can exclude personal information for GDPR compliance.
